Cafe Marlette

I was in search of brunch spots while in Paris a few weeks and stumbled upon a review of this place while trawling through all the cafes in Montmartre online.  We managed to nab the last table in the cafe and nestled in between two groups of people, neither of whom were speaking English, which of course was a sign that we had found somewhere the locals like!

The menu is simple, consisting of a number of set menu options, or you can just order from the à la carte menu.  It’s typical Euro style, with lots of eggs, ham, cheese and bread, but also had muesli and yogurt options for those that don’t feel like following the Euro trend.

Go here for: brunch before strolling the streets of Montmartre

Top tips: the food if pretty filling (especially if you go mad on the bread basket), so you can definitely share one of the set menus and then add on an item or two from the à la carte menu; if you’ve ordered a set menu that comes with a pastry, you’ll probably be too full to eat it, but the staff will happily give it to you to take away so don’t be shy to ask; the cafe can get pretty busy but there are a few tables outside if you’re brave enough to handle the elements in winter

Menu highlights: the soft boiled eggs served with bread fingers and lashes of salted butter; the breakfast muesli slice packed with dried fruit and seeds; the bread basket filled with warm soft french bread and served with strawberry jam and salted butter

Price: EUR 7.90 for 2 soft boiled eggs, bread fingers and salted butter, EUR 12.50 for Le Marlette (coffee/tea/hot chocolate, juice, granola with yogurt or compote and a pastry) or EUR 19.50 for Le Frenchie (coffee/tea/hot chocolate, juice, soft boiled eggs, ham, cheese, bread basket and a pastry)
