In case you’re wondering about the origin of the name, in the summer of 2015 I was on a sailing trip around Croatia and our skipper happened to be a Frenchman. One day he was parking the boat and was getting quite annoyed at me as I was standing around, sipping a glass of rosé and chatting, rather than helping (as I probably should have been!). He yelled out “Colette please, you are such a pipelette!”. As I hadn’t heard the word before I wasn’t sure what kind of insult he was throwing at me, but it turns out it means “chatterbox” in French. I can’t say I really mind the label – after all, what’s the point of going out for good food if you can’t share it with fellow pipelettes! After using a bit of creative licence with the spelling, piplettebycolette was born.
